Formerly EBRD Managing Director, Environment and Sustainability
Dr Alistair Clark joined the EBRD in 2001 and was the Managing Director of the Environment and Sustainability Department until November 2021.
The Department consisted of approximately 40 environmental and social specialists who undertook environmental due diligence and monitoring of the projects in implementation.
Dr Clark's role included ensuring that all investments were consistent with the Environmental Policy and Environmental Procedures of the EBRD. He was also responsible for providing strategic direction to the EBRD with respect to the implementation of the Bank’s environmental mandate and the incorporation of environmental and social aspects in all sector and country policies and strategies.
In addition, Dr Clark was a member of the UK Export Guarantee Advisory Council and Trustee of Television for the Environment, a UK registered charity specialising in environmental and social issues. He also actively contributed to the Multilateral Financial Institutions Working Group on Environmental and Social Standards and represented the Bank at many international agency meetings.
