Managing Director, Central Europe and Baltic States
Andreea Moraru is EBRD Managing Director for Central Europe and the Baltic States. She is accountable for EBRD investment and policy activities across Croatia, Hungary, Poland, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Before taking on this role, Ms Moraru was Director, Regional Head for Poland and the Baltic states. In this position, she led the Bank’s business delivery in some of its most advanced markets, overseeing strong growth in investment activity, scaling up sustainable finance, capital market development and corporate sector competitiveness, and delivering a record €2 billion in annual investment in 2024.
Prior to this, Ms Moraru served as Director, Regional Head of Greece and Cyprus, where she significantly expanded the Bank’s corporate business in Greece while successfully managing the completion of EBRD’s operations in Cyprus.
Ms Moraru joined the EBRD in 2001 and has held a range of senior roles across the Financial Institutions sector and country platforms, building extensive experience in originating and structuring complex equity, debt and structured finance transactions, as well as leading policy dialogue and reform initiatives across multiple regions.
She also brings significant board experience, having served as a non-executive director on the boards of banks, pension funds, insurance companies and investment funds across the region.
Ms Moraru, a Romanian and British national, holds an Executive MBA from Bayes Business School (UK) and is a graduate of the International Directors Programme at INSEAD Business School.
