Georgia has requested loan financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD” or “the Bank”) for the benefit of six secondary municipalities in Georgia – Kutaisi, Gori, Telavi, Zugdidi, Rustavi and Poti – to establish regular bus service through renewing the outdated bus fleet and enhancing the capacity of existing or establishing new municipal transport companies. The Project will be implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia. The proposed project, with total estimated cost of up to EUR 19 million equivalent, will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services:
- New low entry diesel buses (expected length of 8-10m) and related services
- Corporate Development Programme and Transport Reform Study
Open tendering for buses is expected to commence in Q3 2019. The contract is expected to be signed in Q4 2019 subject to successful tendering and confirmation of Bank’s financing.

Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, of for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
