Author: Joel Cela

Hannes Takacs has been appointed head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Albania. He will take up his role on 1 September 2026 and be based in Tirana.

He succeeds Ekaterina Solovova, who has led the EBRD office in Albania for the past five years and will serve as the EBRD head of Montenegro from 1 September.

Mr Takacs joined the EBRD in 2014 after more than 20 years of international experience in corporate finance, capital markets and investment banking. Prior to joining the Bank, he was Managing Director of CAPMEX, a capital markets and corporate finance consultancy operating in more than 50 countries.

At the EBRD, he initially worked in the Local Currency and Capital Markets Development team in London, leading equity and capital markets development projects in multiple regions.

In 2020, Mr Takacs was appointed EBRD Head of Mongolia, overseeing a period of significant expansion in the Bank’s activities there.

Most recently, he served as Adviser to EBRD First Vice President Greg Guyett.
