The Requester, the civil society organisation National Trust of Georgia, alleges that the chosen alignment of the North-South Corridor (Kvesheti-Kobi) Road Project (50271) built in the Khada valley is profoundly damaging. The Requester alleges that the Bank lacked due diligence in this project, with limited research leading to a misguided choice of routes and poor environmental impact analysis. The Requester considers that the current alignment will permanently affect cultural sites and limit the tourism sector. The Requester's asked for the Project to be put on hold while a new due diligence process takes place including an independent assessment compliant with GIP as well as Georgia’s indigenous travel industry. The Requester is amenable to both a Compliance Review and Problem Solving initiative.
