Renovating Slovakia’s Electricity Supply

Slovakia’s accession to the European Union called for the closure of two Soviet-era nuclear reactors. This in turn required a substantial upgrade of the country’s electricity transmission network.

The EBRD manages the decommissioning support fund that financed the work. This was completed on budget and, despite the challenges presented by Covid-19, five months ahead of schedule.
