EBRD First Vice President visits Tunisia

  • First Vice President visits Tunisia to meet authorities and members of business community
  • Mr Rigterink to inaugurate Elec’Recyclage’s new recycling plant
  • EBRD has invested almost 2 billion in the Tunisian economy to date

EBRD First Vice President Jürgen Rigterink will pay a visit to Tunisia from 5-9 June 2023.

He will be joined by Heike Harmgart, Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region, and Nodira Mansurova, Associate Director, Head of Tunisia.

Ahead of the visit, Mr Rigterink said: “This visit is an opportunity to meet the authorities and members of the business community to discuss the country’s priorities. The EBRD is committed to supporting the Tunisian economy through our investments and advisory services, as well as through policy engagements.”

During the visit the First Vice President will hold meetings with senior Tunisian officials, including Prime Minister Najla Bouden, Economy and Planning Minister and EBRD Governor Samir Saied, Finance Minister Sihem Boughdiri, Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries Minister Abdelmonem Belati, Communication Technologies Minister Nizar Ben Neji, and Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Marouane El Abassi.

The visit will also include the inauguration of Elec’Recyclage’s new recycling plant.

Since the start of its operations in Tunisia in 2012, the EBRD has invested close to €2 billion in 62 projects across the country, in both the private and public sectors. It has provided business advice to more than 1,600 Tunisian small and medium-sized enterprises.
