The EBRD’s TFP, launched in 1999, promotes foreign trade to, from and amongst the Bank’s countries of operations and offers a range of products to facilitate this trade. Through the programme the EBRD provides guarantees to international confirming banks, taking the political and commercial payment risk of international trade transactions undertaken by banks in the countries of operations (the issuing banks). To date, the EBRD has supported over 18,400 transactions, totalling more than €12.8 billion.

The award ceremony was preceded by panel discussions about new directions in trade finance, especially exploring gaps and constraints in trade finance solutions for imports of energy efficient machinery and equipment. Rudolf Putz, Head of the EBRD TFP, said: “Our programme is well-established in the market and we are proud that – together with our partner banks – we can make an active contribution to economic growth. For us this means that we will continuously explore new areas and activities where we can be relevant.”

The annual TFP awards were presented by Ambassador Chih-Kung Liu, Head of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK and main sponsor of the event. The evening concluded with a joint dinner to mark the EBRD’s 25th anniversary.
