Project Description

In 2016, the EBRD signed an Agreement with the European Commission to provide business advice, information, training, and other support to SMEs in Ukraine under the EU4Business Programme. One of the key components of the programme is the exhibition and trade fair participation, for implementation of which EBRD has contracted the Export Promotion Office (EPO) via the Foundation for Support of Reforms in Ukraine. Following successful rollout of the Assignment and development of the country export brand, the team will scale up its assistance and provide support to a key trade event of the year, China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2018, Ukraine Exhibition for Trade & Investment. Specifically, the given extension will cover piloting the country export brand (developed under existing Assignment with EPO) via construction of Ukraine’s country stand/pavilion and its management over the duration of the CIIE 2018 exhibition, including trade/business/promotional events.

The goal of the project and the Ukrainian pavilion is to showcase development achievements of Ukraine in trade in goods and services, industrial development, investment potential and tourism, as well as to demonstrate some featured products and improve the access of the Ukrainian goods and services not only to the Chinese market but to the markets of the other 65 countries-participants. The business goal is to establish new B2B contacts for Ukrainian SMEs, to simplify networking by providing professional assistance and market access information, catalogues of contacts per industry etc. There is confirmed high level participation on the government’s side and EBRD side.

Independent Project Accountability Mechanism (IPAM)

If efforts to address environmental, social or public disclosure concerns with the Client or the Bank are unsuccessful (e.g. through the Client’s Project-level grievance mechanism or through direct engagement with Bank management), individuals and organisations may seek to address their concerns through the EBRD’s Independent Project Accountability Mechanism (IPAM).

IPAM independently reviews Project issues that are believed to have caused (or to be likely to cause) harm. The purpose of the Mechanism is: to support dialogue between Project stakeholders to resolve environmental, social and public disclosure issues; to determine whether the Bank has complied with its Environmental and Social Policy or Project-specific provisions of its Access to Information Policy; and where applicable, to address any existing non-compliance with these policies, while preventing future non-compliance by the Bank.
