Project Description

In December 2022, the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD) developed and launched the AgriAcademy.org platform – the only available free-to-use and agribusiness-specific online learning platform for agribusiness and food sector in Ukraine. AgriAcademy is owned and managed by the EBRD. It aims to enhance the competitiveness and resilience of the Ukrainian agri-food sector by providing access to high-quality technical knowledge in Ukrainian language on industry-relevant topics. As of 8 February 2024, there were 18 courses available on the platform that were developed in cooperation with leading international universities (Wageningen University & Research, EIT Food, University of Reading, University of Cambridge, Belfast University, Turin University KU Leuven), local knowledge institutions and industry unions. Developed in response to COVID related disruption, the AgriAcademy gains even more importance today, in the context of the war on Ukraine and the challenges it brings to the Small and Medium Enterprises in particular.

TC Services

The project will be implemented through:
-
- Identifying critical knowledge gaps in collaboration with industry unions.
- Selecting training topics such as resource efficiency, resilience in food processing, and biosecurity.
- Developing or adapting online training materials for the Ukrainian market.
- Reviewing and preparing courses for publishing on the AgriAcademy platform.
- Proposing methods to evaluate knowledge retention post-course completion.
- Disseminating materials through industry unions, events, and social media.
- Organizing study visits for firsthand experience in dairy farming, biogas production, and water managements.
- Informing industry players on sustainable water management opportunities.
- Editing and publishing 20 online courses.
- Updating registration questionnaire for monitoring participant demographics and feedback.
- Marketing and promoting the AgriAcademy platform to narrow knowledge gaps.
- Providing technical support including platform monitoring, bug correction, and security audit.

Independent Project Accountability Mechanism (IPAM)

If efforts to address environmental, social or public disclosure concerns with the Client or the Bank are unsuccessful (e.g. through the Client’s Project-level grievance mechanism or through direct engagement with Bank management), individuals and organisations may seek to address their concerns through the EBRD’s Independent Project Accountability Mechanism (IPAM).

IPAM independently reviews Project issues that are believed to have caused (or to be likely to cause) harm. The purpose of the Mechanism is: to support dialogue between Project stakeholders to resolve environmental, social and public disclosure issues; to determine whether the Bank has complied with its Environmental and Social Policy or Project-specific provisions of its Access to Information Policy; and where applicable, to address any existing non-compliance with these policies, while preventing future non-compliance by the Bank.
