Project description

The Project supports the development of the New Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan through a public-private partnership (PPP) for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a new greenfield airport and associated infrastructure. The Project is being developed by an international sponsor consortium led by Vision International Investment Company. It will help address capacity constraints at the existing airport, accommodate growing passenger and cargo demand, and strengthen Uzbekistan’s regional and international connectivity. The new airport is expected to support the country’s ambition to become a regional transport, trade and tourism hub. The Project will mobilise private sector investment and expertise in critical transport infrastructure and improve operational efficiency and service quality. The anticipated transition impact is derived from Resilient quality through strengthened commercial viability and support for low-carbon airport operations, and Integrated qualities through improved domestic, regional and international connectivity and greater competition in Uzbekistan's aviation sector.
