1. Funding Details
The above-named client intends to use part of the proceeds of a loan from/grant administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the Bank) towards the cost of the above named project.
Additional financing information:
EBRD loan up to EUR 297 million equivalent to be disbursed in KZT, USD and/or EUR.
2. Information on the Project
Project Description:
EBRD intends to provide financing for the integration of the currently isolated West electric power system zone (the “West Zone”) with the Unified Power System (the “UPS”) of Kazakhstan (the “Project”) to bolster energy security and enhance reliability of the power supply in the currently isolated western region of Kazakhstan to deliver a resilient and efficient energy system.
The plan is that the Project will require the procurement of works for the construction of the Karabatan and Ulke substations and the construction of 670 km long 500 kV Karabatan – Ulke power line.

3. Other Information
Contracts will be subject to the Procurement Procedure by Joint Stock Company “Sovereign Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” and Organizations at Least Fifty Percent of Voting Shares (Equity Interest) of which are Directly or Indirectly Owned by Samruk-Kazyna JSC on the Right of Property or Trust Management (the “Samruk Kazyna’s Procurement Procedure”) and in line with EBRD’s Procurement Policies and Rules EBRD Procurement policies (the “EBRD PP&Rs 2022”).
Procurement under this project will be conducted using the Samruk-Kazyna’s Procurement Portal (https://zakup.sk.kz/). If you intend to participate in any procurement under this project, please ensure that you have registered on the Samruk-Kazyna’s Procurement Portal and passed pre-qualification procedure in accordance with the Samruk Kazyna’s Procurement Procedure. Pre-qualification is the process of evaluating potential suppliers for compliance with the qualification requirements defined, carried out through a questionnaire and audit. Pre-qualified suppliers will be notified directly when any procurement opportunities are published.
