Highlights

The EBRD’s Small Business Impact Fund (SBIF) is a cornerstone of its work with SMEs across its regions. The SBIF has proven to be an effective and vital tool for supporting the Bank’s comprehensive approach to SME growth and development. By pooling donor resources into one fund, the SBIF allows for tailored SME engagements that prioritise impact and build synergies between the Bank’s financial and advisory product offer. Over the years, the EBRD has been on the frontline of providing regular development support and crisis response to small businesses across its regions of operations. In 2022 alone, the Fund raised over EUR 30 million for SME support activities in Ukraine and countries affected by the war. The Fund supports key flagship programmes of the EBRD, including:

  • Star Venture programme for high-tech start-ups.
  • Youth in Business programme targeting SMEs managed or owned by youth.
  • Women in Business programme fostering gender and inclusion across the Bank’s regions.
  • Supply Chain Solutions advisory programme in Türkiye.
  • Crisis response programmes supporting SMEs and start-ups in Morocco, Türkiye and Ukraine.
