Managing Director, Corporate Strategy
William Roos joined the EBRD as the Managing Director for Corporate Strategy in September 2025 with overall responsibility for formulating corporate strategy, including advising the President on strategic options for the Bank and developing the Bank’s core strategic documents.
He also manages relationships with other international financial institutions, leads on cross-departmental special initiatives and is responsible for the Bank’s engagement with the European Institutions. Mr Roos is a member of the Executive Committee.
Mr Roos previously worked as the Assistant Secretary for Multilateral, Development and Trade Affairs at the French Treasury, co-chair of the Paris Club and co-chair of the G20 International Financial Architecture Working Group. Prior to that, he served as Director for France at the Board of Directors of the EBRD, as Economic Counsellor for Southern Africa at the Embassy of France in Pretoria and as Head of International and Domestic Macroeconomic Policy Department at the French Treasury.
Mr Roos holds a Master of advanced studies in industrial economics, microeconomics and econometrics from the Sorbonne University and from the National School of Statistics and Economic Administration (ENSAE-Paris).
