On 7 March 2024 CEE Bankwatch submitted a Request to IPAM related to Zarafshon Wind Project (OP ID 52362) in Uzbekistan.
The request raised concerns regarding project impacts on biodiversity in the project area. It was alleged that a few wind turbines had been installed too close to an area where threatened species of birds are nesting, this putting the birds under risk of collision with the turbines.
As IPAM could not consider Problem Solving as per Bank’s Project Accountability Policy, Requesters asked in 2024 for a temporary suspension of the IPAM process while they pursued a dispute resolution process through the CAO of the IFC.
In light of CEE Bankwatch decision, late 2025, to withdraw their request based on the significant progress (of which reaching an agreement) in the resolution of their concerns through the CAO dispute resolution process, the Case is now closed.
