Elia Benveniste
Elia Benveniste is a Principal Research Economist at the EBRD Office of the Chief Economist.
Elia's work focuses on labour and personnel economics, migration and development. He studies the determinants of wages, working conditions and firm productivity, and how to measure them accurately. His research examines how worker representation within firms affects firm productivity and wage equality, and whether there is a trade-off between the two. He also investigates how labour market institutions affect working conditions and how the creation of industrial jobs in developing countries affects employment and wages in local labour markets.
Before joining the EBRD, Elia obtained a PhD in Economics from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona.
