Elia Benveniste

Principal Research Economist

Elia is an economist working on labor and personnel economics, migration and development. He studies the determinants wages, working conditions and firm productivity, and how to measure them accurately. His research examines how worker representation within firms affects firm productivity and wage equality, and whether there is a tradeoff between the two. He also investigates how labor market institutions affect working conditions and how the creation of industrial jobs in developing countries affects employment and wages in local labor markets.

Before joining the EBRD, Elia obtained a PhD in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona.
