The first BEEPS survey was undertaken on behalf of the EBRD and World Bank in 1999 – 2000, when it was administered to 4,104 enterprises in 25 countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, FYR Macedonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
