Annual Evaluation Review 2024

The Independent Evaluation Department (IEvD) is proud to present its 2024 Annual Evaluation Review titled "Strengthening impact through independent evaluation".

Evaluations are a vital tool for learning from experience and shaping future strategic directions. The AER distils lessons from evaluations conducted during the year offering three key insights to inform EBRD’s future strategic direction: 

• (1) The EBRD plays a key role in catalysing green systemic change but should better incentivise and capture impact.
• (2) The EBRD has made progress since 2022 towards increasing support to gender equality, although challenges remain with limited incentives, modest ambition and weak results monitoring.
• (3) The EBRD provides distinctive and valued support to improve governance in corporate and public sectors, but reliance on donor funds for maximising impact may become a concern.

The AER also presents IEvD's work in 2024 and includes a special chapter on its influence in action.
