Joint MDB Event: MDB supported country sector platforms to scale climate action

This event is to present and discuss the concept and different modalities of climate and development related country platforms in action and development that MDBs are supporting countries with, across different economic sectors, themes and regions around the world. We will discuss how platform approach can act as powerful vehicles to mobilizing investments at scale and create momentum to accelerate green transition to achieve countries’ climate ambition, and what are the main components and conditions to launching and implementing them.

MDBs are committed to further scaling-up of their climate and development action, which requires a major step-change, and are proposing that this is achieved by shifting from an individual project approach to a programmatic approach structured around country-driven platforms with clear, ambitious, and monitorable targets. The country sector platforms approach consists of specific country-focused packages of policy, investment, and capacity-building activities to implement sectoral or thematic components of the transition to a low carbon and climate resilient economy.
