Joint MDB Event: MDB efforts to scale-up climate finance by leveraging Article 6

We will provide an update on MDB efforts to leverage Article 6 to scale up climate finance for developing countries and enable a rapid scale up of net zero solutions. While the Paris rulebook has been agreed, there is a need to support countries in making choices about the scope and level of their engagement in international carbon markets, balancing benefits and implications.

MDBs have a key role to play in supporting host countries in implementing the agreed Article 6 rulebook. Creating an enabling environment by developing practical yet robust implementation options, defining common principles of Paris-aligned carbon markets, while testing necessary market infrastructure are thereby key objectives.
