The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a working capital loan of up to US$ 6 million (€5.7 million) to UzCarlsberg, boosting the company’s operational efficiency and contributing to higher food safety standards in Uzbekistan.
UzCarlsberg, which has been a client of the Bank since 2022 and is the country’s only brewer manufacturing international branded products, will use the loan to acquire ingredients and packaging materials and improve the management of seasonal stock.
The working capital loan will add necessary flexibility to the operations of the company, which sees increased demand for its products in the summer months.
The project is supported by the Japan-EBRD Cooperation Fund.
The Bank has invested more than €5.5 billion in Uzbekistan to date across 174 projects, with most of the funds supporting private entrepreneurship. The country has been the leading recipient of EBRD funding in Central Asia for the past five years.
