The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Harry Boyd-Carpenter as Managing Director of its Sustainable Infrastructure Group (SIG), effective 1 January 2025.
Mr Boyd-Carpenter has been advancing the EBRD’s green agenda as Managing Director, Climate Strategy & Delivery since April 2021, coordinating Bank-wide efforts to achieve the EBRD’s annual 50 per cent green investment target and the alignment of all of its activities with the Paris Agreement.
With nearly two decades at the EBRD, his experience includes leading the Power and Energy Utilities team within SIG and key roles in Corporate Strategy department and Office of the General Counsel. A qualified lawyer, he joined the EBRD in 2005 after roles at Allen & Overy and the European Agency for Reconstruction in Kosovo.
Jürgen Rigterink, EBRD First Vice President, said: “We are confident that Harry Boyd-Carpenter’s strategic vision, leadership experience, commitment to policy dialogue as a catalyst for action, subject matter expertise, drive, and passion for the Bank’s countries of operation will help SIG continue to grow and deliver for our clients and the Bank.”
SIG represents approximately one third of the Bank’s annual business activity and encompasses the municipal infrastructure, transport, and energy sectors,
Mr Boyd-Carpenter will replace Nandita Parshad, who is retiring from the Bank at the end of the year.
