The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a loan of €25 million to Saribekir Ambalaj Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., a leading food packaging producer in Türkiye. The loan will finance the company’s capital expenditure, working capital needs and international expansion.

The loan will bolster Saribekir’s green investment initiatives, which are expected to bring about substantial energy savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions. This aligns with the EBRD's broader aim to promote resource efficiency and superior environmental standards.

Saribekir, a family-owned business, has been a leading player in Türkiye’s food packaging sector, specialising in producing 100 per cent recyclable tin cans, caps, easy-open lids and twist-off closures for jars and various food products.

EBRD Associate Director of Agribusiness Tamara Tosic said: “We are thrilled to support Saribekir in addressing the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions. These investments will help the company to decarbonise its operations and advance towards a circular economy.”

The co-founder of Saribekir, Esra Saribekir Fazlioglu, said: "We are delighted to have the chance to work with the EBRD. Our co-operation will help accelerate the growth of Saribekir's business, especially in export markets. It will further be a catalyst in improving our company’s credentials in implementing sustainable environmental policies. We look forward to a long-lasting partnership.”

To date, the EBRD has invested more than €19 billion in various sectors of the Turkish economy, predominantly in the private sector, contributing significantly to the country’s sustainable economic growth.
