EBRD Board Directors to visit Poland

Meetings with government officials and business representatives

Representatives of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will arrive in Poland on Monday for a visit which will offer the opportunity to meet government officials, representatives of the business community and civil society.

A far-reaching programme will also include visits of EBRD investments in Polish companies and take the Board Directors to regions outside the capital Warsaw. With visits to Pulawy and Bielsk Podlaski the EBRD representatives will gain first-hand impressions of eastern Poland and see the Bank’s activities on the ground.

The Board representatives will be:

Abel Mateus, Alternate Director, Portugal/Greece

Johannes Seiringer, Director, Austria/Israel/Cyprus/Malta/ Kazakhstan/Bosnia & Herzegovina

Sergey Verkashanskiy, Alternate Director, Russian Federation/Belarus/Tajikistan

Zbigniew Hockuba, Alternate Director, Poland/Bulgaria/Albania

Adam Jasinski, Advisor to Director, Poland/Bulgaria/Albania

EBRD management accompanying the Directors will be led by Jean-Marc Peterschmitt, Managing Director, Countries of Operations Group, and Grzegorz Zieliński, Regional Director, Poland and the Baltics,

The EBRD and Poland have been working together closely since the establishment of the Bank 25 years ago and it was here that the Bank made its first investment. To date, the EBRD has invested €7.7 billion in more than 360 projects in the country. The Bank’s activities include all sectors of the economy. In recent years, following demand in the market, the EBRD has been particularly active in the development of the local capital market and in supporting energy efficiency and sustainable sources of energy.
