How regional capital markets boost competitiveness

The event will showcase the vital role of strong, regional capital markets in enhancing financial resilience and boosting economic competitiveness. The panel will share successful models of regional integration, including the pan-Baltic capital markets initiative and its fully integrated capital markets infrastructure. It will also offer comparative insights from the West African Economic and Monetary Union, with its single capital markets regulator and supervisor, and a recent initiative of eight stock exchanges in central, eastern and south-eastern Europe aiming to further integrate the regional capital markets. These examples will illustrate tangible benefits for issuers, investors and regulators, showing how well-functioning capital markets support funding diversification and foster sustainable growth that aligns fully with the goals of the European Union’s Savings and Investments Union initiative.
