Supporting agriculture in wartime Ukraine

Author: Nina Tsintsadze

Protecting crops, sustaining livelihoods: helping Ukrainian farms build resilience amid war and drought.

Agriculture is one of Ukraine’s most important industries, feeding the country and supplying markets around the world. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale war, keeping farms operating has become more critical than ever. Amid the challenges of war and increasingly frequent droughts, family-owned farm Druzhba restored its irrigation system to protect crops, strengthen resilience and lower operating costs.

The farm is one of 2,400 companies supported through the EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line, which helps businesses access finance, grants and expert advice to invest in modern technologies and strengthen their operations.

Druzhba’s investment was financed through OTP Bank Ukraine and Raiffeisen Bank Ukraine under the programme. The project was supported by the European Union (EU), France and the Crisis Response Special Fund (CRSF).
