The event’s objective is to provide an overview of progress, opportunities, and emerging challenges of MDBs in the implementation of the Paris Alignment principles, and to facilitate a dialogue among MDBs, partner countries, civil society, and other stakeholders. The event will also showcase some examples of good practices and lessons learned from MDBs in applying the principles to their operations and activities.
In July 2023, MDBs released high-level principles of how they will ensure alignment of their financing of operations with the goals of the Paris Agreement – the culmination of work to ensure a consistent and harmonized approach. The MDBs' joint Paris Alignment approach aims to accelerate and support the successful transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient future by supporting clients to develop appropriate long-term development pathways in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement and aligning financial flows to them.
