Clean water in remote Tajikistan

Author: Cecilia Calatrava

In the Tajik highlands lie the dramatic Pamir Mountains, also known as the “roof of the world”.

While the region is rich in resources, its topography challenges the daily lives of its remote communities.

Schools, hospitals and over 25,000 families in the region now have 24-hour access to fresh drinking water. The project is also helping improve the region’s infrastructure in other ways, such as better waste management.

Khorog is now a cleaner, safer and more enjoyable city!

This project is supported by Switzerland, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the Czech Republic.
