Author: Nibal Zgheib

The EBRD’s First Vice President Phil Bennett will visit Tunisia on 8 September to attend an important international conference on investment opportunities in the Tunisian economy.

At the conference “Invest in Tunisia: Start-up democracy”, the Tunisian authorities will present their ambitious new economic model for the country.

Mr Bennett will address the meeting, which will be attended by prime ministers and other senior political figures from around 30 European and Arab states, as well as representatives from multinational companies and financial institutions.

In his speech, Mr Bennett will congratulate Tunisia on the democratic progress that the country has made and he will underscore the Bank’s strong financial engagement in the country and its support for Tunisia’s economic reform programme.

The conference will provide a forum for debate on the Tunisian business climate and highlight especially those sectors of the economy that are of greatest potential interest to foreign investors.

The EBRD has been investing in Tunisia since September 2012, providing financing worth €152 million across 16 projects.
