Sustainable infrastructure

Our sustainable infrastructure partners

The EBRD supports a comprehensive international policy agenda within the context of the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and the G20. This includes the G20’s Quality Infrastructure Agenda and Private Sector Mobilisation, the Global Infrastructure Hub, the Global Infrastructure Facility, FAST-Infra, the APMG PPP Certification Programme and the MDB Infrastructure Cooperation Platform (ICP).

Going well-beyond project preparation, this approach to sustainable infrastructure is critical to the EBRD’s long-term strategic impact. These programmes help the EBRD’s clients enhance their capacity for planning, preparing, delivering and monitoring complex infrastructure projects.

G20 and IFI Collaboration

The Global Infrastructure Hub (GI Hub) is a not-for-profit organisation, formed by the G20 that advances the delivery of sustainable, resilient, and inclusive infrastructure.

The GI Hub collaborates with the public and private sectors, acting as a knowledge sharing hub, to produce data, insights, knowledge tools, and programs that inform both policy and infrastructure delivery. These resources help decision makers, policymakers, and practitioners create positive impacts through infrastructure.

The EBRD’s support to date has included detailed guidance on the GIH’s business plan and associated toolkit of products and policy initiatives, that work to improve knowledge and capacity needed to achieve greater private sector participation in infrastructure investment across some 40 countries.

The Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF), a G20 initiative, is a global collaboration platform that integrates efforts to boost private investment in sustainable, quality infrastructure projects in developing countries and emerging markets.

GIF provides technical assistance to Emerging Market governments for project preparation and structuring of selected infrastructure projects and programmes aimed at finding solutions to build bankable pipelines of infrastructure projects that attract private financing.  SIG is an active partner with the GIF, having received funding support for over half of all PPP advisory activities undertaken to date by the Bank.

The APMG Public-Private Partnerships Certification Program (CP3P) is the definitive credential for individuals working on PPPs, designed to help standardize the PPP delivery process. The programme is an innovation of EBRD, together with Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and the World Bank Group (WBG), with funding from the Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) and aims to enhance international PPP good practice. Approximately 5000 public sector officials have received the CP3P certification since inception.
