“By connecting to Europe’s energy system, the Baltic states are strengthening their independence , and building a cleaner, more secure energy future.”
In 2025, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania completed their synchronisation with the European electricity system, disconnecting from the Russia-led BRELL grid in a historic step for the region’s energy security and independence.
The shift marks a new chapter for the Baltic states, where clean energy is playing an increasingly important role. Today, around 35-40 per cent of the region’s energy comes from wind, solar and hydropower.
We have invested more than €2.5 billion in renewable energy across the Baltic states, supporting projects that strengthen energy resilience and accelerate the green transition. From transmission infrastructure to large-scale battery storage and renewable generation, these investments are helping the region generate, store and distribute clean power more reliably.
Many of these projects are backed by the European Union through InvestEU guarantees and advisory support, helping mobilise private investment and build a more secure, sustainable energy future for the Baltic states and Europe.
