The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of Serbia’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a new financing package of up to €50 million for ProCredit Bank Serbia.
The financing consists of two loans: €40 million under the Financial Intermediaries Framework, to support on-lending to private SMEs across Serbia, with at least 30 per cent of the funds dedicated to green investments; and €10 million under the Go Digital in the Western Balkans programme, of which at least 60 per cent will support green and digital investments, with additional technical assistance and investment incentives provided by the European Union.
The new funding will make it easier for SMEs in Serbia to get the loans they need to grow. These businesses provide most of the country’s jobs and economic value but often struggle to access long-term financing. The finance package will also promote the adoption of EU standards, energy efficiency and gender inclusion, with dedicated capacity building for women-led businesses.
Aleksandra Vukosavljević, EBRD Director for Financial Institutions in the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe, said: “Supporting the growth and digital transformation of Serbia’s SMEs is vital for the country’s sustainable economic development. Through this new financing, we are helping businesses access the long-term funding and expertise they need to innovate, become more competitive and accelerate their green transition. We are particularly proud that this partnership will also empower women entrepreneurs and promote inclusive growth. ProCredit Bank Serbia’s strong track record and commitment to responsible banking make it an ideal partner for delivering real impact on the ground.”
Igor Anić, President of the Executive Board of ProCredit Bank, said: “This new financing package from the EBRD further strengthens our long-term commitment to supporting SME growth in Serbia. The €40 million credit line will enable us to expand access to financing for businesses across the country, with at least 30 per cent dedicated to green investments. At the same time, the additional €10 million under the Go Digital programme will help accelerate the digital transformation and automation of local companies. We are proud to deepen our cooperation with the EBRD and jointly promote innovation, sustainability and more competitive SME development.”
ProCredit Bank Serbia is a long-standing EBRD partner and a leading SME lender in the country, serving over 6,000 clients with a strong focus on green finance and digital innovation.
