Matteo Patrone, Vice President for Banking at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is set to visit Albania from 10 to 11 March and Montenegro from 12 to 13 March.
During the visit to Albania, he will meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Finance and EBRD Governor Petrit Malaj and a number of private- and public-sector clients. This will be Mr Patrone’s first official visit to the country in his new role as EBRD Vice President.
In Montenegro, he will meet with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, Minister of Finance and EBRD Governor Novica Vuković and representatives of businesses, state-owned companies and associations.
Ahead of the visit, Mr Patrone said: “Our work in Albania and Montenegro has been vital as we are a leading international financial institution in the region. This visit underscores the EBRD's commitment to fostering economic development. Strengthening our partnerships and engaging with the countries’ public- and private-sector representatives will offer an excellent occasion to deepen our ties in the region. I look forward to discussing our ongoing projects and exploring new opportunities to support sustainable growth.”
Mr Patrone will be accompanied on both visits by EBRD Regional Director for the Western Balkans Matteo Colangeli. In addition, for the visit to Albania, he will be accompanied by EBRD Head of Albania Ekaterina Solovova, and on the visit to Montenegro, by EBRD Head of Montenegro Remon Zakaria.
The EBRD started operations in Albania in 1991 and has since invested more than €2.2 billion through 159 projects. In 2024, the Bank invested over €200 million through 18 projects in the country.
Since Montenegro joined the EBRD in 2006, the Bank has invested €933 million in 96 projects there. In 2024, it invested more than €104 million through 9 projects in the country.
