- EBRD Vice President Pilloux is visiting Croatia on 8-10 June
- Meetings with government representatives and businesses in Zagreb and Sisak

The Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Alain Pilloux, is visiting Croatia on 8-10 June for meetings with government representatives and clients.
During his trip, Mr Pilloux will meet Prime Minister Andrej Planković, Governor of the National Bank Boris Vujčić, Mayor of Zagreb Tomislav Tomašević and representatives of private and state-owned companies. He will also visit the Sisak-Moslavina county, the area most affected by the devastating 2020 earthquake.
During his visit, Vice President Pilloux will discuss cooperation in areas of strategic importance to Croatia, such as energy security, including the further development of renewable energy sources in the country, and the ongoing post-earthquake reconstruction.
The most recent EBRD project in Croatia, signed in May 2022, was also dedicated to supporting vital services in the wake of the earthquake. The EBRD and the municipality of Zagreb signed a €50 million loan to support water, transport and sanitation services in Croatia’s capital, which also suffered as a result of the quake. The loan will be split between two critical infrastructure providers: Zagrebacki Holding (ZGH), the utility responsible for water, waste management and road maintenance, and Zagrebacki elektricni tramvaj (ZET), the public transport provider in Zagreb and surrounding towns.
The EBRD has invested more than €4.2 billion in Croatia to date, including €176 million last year. The Bank is involved not only in project financing, but also policy reform in areas related to the continuing post-earthquake reconstruction, providing technical cooperation support to the government together with the European Union.
In 2022, the EBRD expects to invest up to €200 million in a number of projects in Croatia, with more than half of that earmarked for a number of renewable energy projects.
