- EBRD sells 35 per cent of its share capital in Voltalia
- Bank will retain 1.7 per cent stake in renewable energy producer
- Voltalia’s shares are listed on Euronext in Paris
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has sold 35 per cent of its shares in Voltalia, the international renewable energy producer based in Paris and listed on the Euronext stock exchange.
The EBRD is retaining a stake of 1.7 per cent in the company confirming its continuous commitment towards Voltalia and its goals.
The placement was managed by Crédit Agricole Corporate, while Crédit Agricole Investment Bank acted as bookrunner.
In 2019, the EBRD acquired a 2.8 per cent stake in Voltalia to support the firm’s expansion to countries where the Bank invests. The investment was part of a larger capital increase to finance the company’s investment programme for the period 2020-2023.
The EBRD is a multilateral development bank and invests in emerging economies in central, eastern and south-eastern Europe, northern Africa and central Asia. The Bank combines financing with in-depth knowledge of the business environment and regulatory frameworks in its countries of operations. The EBRD aims to increase green financing to more than 50 per cent of its annual business volume by 2025.
