Purpose of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments

The construction of water intake structures at the Plava Voda spring, together with the construction of a main transport pipeline, about 34 kilometres long, from the spring through Novi Travnik, Vitez and Busovaca to the town of Zenica.  The project also includes the construction of supporting facilities to enable connections to the existing water distribution networks of the five municipalities.  Parallel financing for this investment is provided by the Council of Europe Development Bank (‘CEB’).

Development of the very first regional project in Bosnia and Herzegovina will provide a long term solution for potable water supply in five municipalities with total population of 250,000. The project will also include a programme of institutional strengthening, through the preparation of Financial and Operational Performance Improvement Programmes (‘FOPIPs’) for the water utilities of the participating municipalities.
