Hans Holzhacker is Associate Director, Regional Lead Economist at the Economics, Policy and Governance at EBRD.
Hans has over 20 years of experience as an economist focusing on the economies of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS. Before joining EBRD in 2017, he was a scientific advisor at the Narxoz University and a chief economist at ATFBank both in Almaty, Kazakhstan, since 2008. Until then, Hans was a Vienna-based economist for Bank Austria focused on the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. Hans was also an economist at the Institute of International Finance in Washington, DC, in 1999-2001 and Head of Country Risk/Research at GiroCredit Research in 1993-99. Hans holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Masters in Economics from the University of Vienna.
