Submitting an Investment Proposal

Coins

We invite fund managers pursuing any kind of private markets strategy within EBRD's geography to share their proposals to assess the Bank’s appetite for becoming an investor. We extend this invitation to teams raising their first fund, and more established managers.

A successful proposal should contain information about:

(i) The investment team together with a short bio and relevant experience;
(ii) The investment strategy of the fund and its investment geography;
(iii) The corresponding market opportunity, depth and initial pipeline;
(iv) The track record of the investment team and/or predecessor funds managed;
(v) The target size of the fund;
(vi) Targeted returns;
(vii) Fundraising status; and
(viii) Ownership of the fund manager and fund structure (if already determined).

We will assess the above in the context of an appropriate commercial risk/return profile and EBRD's non-financial strategic priorities.

We typically seeks to invest in funds that

(i) Are commercially inspired by the fund management team's experience;
(ii) Have a dedicated, fully aligned and independently owned team;
(ii) Have a focused investment strategy (in contrast to a multi product approach);
(iii) For infrastructure funds and those fund with high regulatory exposure, have a broad geographical diversification (EBRD avoids funds in this space that only invest in one country);
(iv) Are domiciled in a suitable jurisdiction that is widely accepted by international investors; and
(v) That have no dominant investors.
Exceptions to the above criteria are possible in justified cases.

Please send any proposal material to funds@ebrd.com.
