As Central Asia prepares to transition from resource-based to knowledge-based societies, these questions are increasingly relevant. Invariably, providing equal opportunity goes a long way towards addressing them.
If young people had access to quality education and jobs or were able to easily start and maintain their own businesses, fewer would leave their countries in search of economic opportunities. If redundant workers could upskill, effective re-allocations could take place and livelihoods could be protected.
