New energy-efficient production line for Egyptian denim producer

We helped Emessa, a denim producer, pioneer green, ready-made garments in Egypt by improving the company’s energy efficiency. Emessa produces 1 million pairs of jeans a year and supplies its garments to local and export markets.

With support from the European Union and the Green Climate Fund, the company installed a new production line, helping to reduce its energy consumption by about 28 per cent and cut its CO2 emissions by 46 tonnes a year. The company also managed to decrease its water consumption by 50 per cent, or around 60 litres of water per garment.

Emessa supplies ready-made dyed denim to some of the world’s top brands with the help of more than 1,000 staff, 70 per cent of whom are women.
