As the global awareness of the aviation sector’s contribution to the climate change crisis grows, airports are trying to find ways to reduce their environmental footprint.

Under its Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF), the EBRD, with donor funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), supports Swissport in modernising its handling equipment in Morocco.

Sana Ezzoubir, Head of Centralised Services and Public Relations at Swissport Morocco, describes how the company switched approximately 40 percent of its vehicles from diesel to electricity, in order to improve energy efficiency, reduce noise pollution and make the equipment safer and easier to use.

The EBRD’s 2022 Annual Meeting and Business Forum is taking place in Marrakech on 10-12 May, and Marrakech-Menara airport will serve as the main entrance for participants.
