Henrik Linders joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in November 2021 as the Managing Director, Environment and Sustainability.

Mr Linders oversees the delivery of the Bank’s commitment to promote environment-friendly and sustainable development across our activities. His department consists of approximately 40 environmental and social specialists who undertake environmental due diligence and monitoring of the projects in implementation.

Mr Linders' role includes ensuring that all investments are consistent with the Environmental Policy and Environmental Procedures of the EBRD. He is also responsible for providing strategic direction to the EBRD with respect to the implementation of the Bank’s environmental mandate and the incorporation of environmental and social aspects in all sector and country policies and strategies.

Mr Linders, a trained Environmental and Natural Resources Engineer, is a Swedish national, and has spent his career working in environmental engineering, infrastructure development, and environmental & social governance.

During six years at the United Nations Office for Project Services, the UN’s project delivery arm, he led ESG policy, governance, risk management and sustainable infrastructure initiatives.

Prior to his time at UN OPS, he served as Head of Environmental & Social Compliance at the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Compliance Advisor Ombudsman, and worked at the IFC (IFC/MIGA) Compliance Advisor Ombudsman, for eight years.
