Odile Renaud-Basso assumes office as EBRD president

New EBRD president assumes office

Odile Renaud-Basso assumed office as the new president of the EBRD in London on Monday. She is the first women to lead a multinational development bank. The former Director-General at the French Treasury was elected in October at the EBRD’s 2020 Annual Meeting, which was held in a virtual session due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Green transition of Tauron Polska Energia

Tauron Polska Energia, one of the largest energy firms in Poland, is moving from fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy with an EBRD investment in its local currency bond issuance.

Commercial paper market in the Baltics

The EBRD and the central banks of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have joined forces to develop a regional market for commercial papers. These are short-term unsecured promissory notes issued by companies with a fixed-term maturity and used to address short-term liquidity or working capital needs. Local media reported extensively on the deal.

EBRD to launch 2020 Transition Report with high-level discussion

The EBRD is launching its 2020 Transition Report, titled “The State Strikes Back,” on Tuesday 10 November at 15:00 (London time). The findings of the report and related questions will be discussed by a panel of top economists including Mariana Mazzucato (University College London), Dani Rodrik (Harvard) and EBRD Chief Economist Professor Beata Javorcik (Oxford).
