Former Managing Director for Information Technology
Richard Williams joined the EBRD in June 2017 and was responsible for technology in the Bank. His focus was on improving all aspects of technology it uses and transforming the IT department to support the Bank’s digital aspirations.
Before joining the EBRD, Mr Williams was the Chief Information Officer at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and held Programme Director roles at the Beazley Group and Willis Ltd, where he delivered a number of technology enabled change projects.
Mr Williams also ran his own IT Digitalisation consulting company, providing services to the Financial Services Sector and has worked in the public sector for the Cabinet Office as a Senior Programme Director, developing strategic leadership and implementation skills and for Ofsted as a Programme Manager, implementing their major organisational change programme.
His career started in the British Army (Welsh Guards) where he rose to the rank of Major and was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry.
A graduate of Cambridge University, in addition to his native English, Mr Williams also speaks French. He is a South West Ambulance First Responder in his spare time.
