EBRD workshop on animal welfare

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the “EBRD”) would like to invite you to attend a workshop on animal welfare on Thursday 7 November 2019.

The workshop will start at 09.00 and will be an all-day event, held at DEPO conference hall (Antonovycha Str. 52, Kyiv, Ukraine) in the Bibliotech room.

Animal welfare and biosecurity are an integral part of safety standards of high-quality animal origin food products, which are becoming increasingly important for all market participants, and consumers in particular, in the economies where the EBRD invests. The EBRD strives to promote good practice among its clients, and to achieve this goal, the Bank has included the requirement of animal welfare good practice in its environmental and social policy. Recently the Bank has also supported the development of practical guidance for livestock producers on how to improve animal welfare.

The workshop is designed for livestock producers and processors, management and technical staff, veterinary professionals, other livestock industry stakeholders, representatives of local authorities and sector associations and has been organised by the EBRD, with the support of the government of Japan.

At the workshop we will discuss European Union regulation and requirements for animal welfare. Leading European experts will share their experiences and instruments for the improvement of animal welfare and biosecurity, including best practice in the management of the risk related to antimicrobial resistance.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge.

Please confirm your participation by 24 October  2019 by sending a confirmation email to: lymar@asuka-gi.com or by telephone +38 097 9420204.
