Project description
The Power Grid Enhancement Project is being developed by the Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE). It comprises the construction of new and in some cases rehabilitation of existing electricity transmission lines and substations.
The purpose of the Project is to strengthen the power transmission grid in Georgia, improve cross border trade opportunities, meet increased power demands and connect existing and planned power projects.
The Project consists of the four main components:
(1) Construction of the 500 kV overhead line (OHL) Tskaltubo-Akhaltsikhe-Tortum;
(2) Construction of the North Ring;
(3) Reinforcement of the transmission infrastructure in Guria region;
(4) Reinforcement of the transmission infrastructure in Kakheti region
