#EBRDwb photo competition 2019

Western Balkans: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia

Share your photos of the Western Balkans on social media and win a prize

The Western Balkans are one of the most beautiful of the regions where the EBRD works. And Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia are full of surprises.

Nikola Tesla, the inventor and mathematician, was a Serb (born in Smiljan in Austrian Empire, modern-day Croatia) and Mother Teresa (or Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu), the Nobel prize-winning missionary, was born in what is now North Macedonia.

Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the host of this year’s EBRD Annual Meeting and Business Forum, was one of the first cities to have its own tram system.

Lord Byron praised Albanian dresses in letters to his mother. Whilst the oldest tree in Europe- Stara Maslina- grows in Bar in Montenegro and is over 2,000 years old.

If you share our passion for the Western Balkans and love photography, here’s your chance to show us – and the world - what makes the Western Balkans so special.

Why do the region’s six countries matter and why, for example, are they such an attractive investment destination?

Post your pictures on Instagram and/or Facebook tagging @EBRD_official and @EBRDhq, using the hashtag #EBRDwb. Anyone over 18 is free to participate. Make sure you have permission to use the photos.

  • Post your photos with a short description of the country pictured.
  • We will be reposting the best ones on our own accounts.
  • We will select the 6 best photos by 25th April.
  • We plan to display them at the Annual Meeting venue as well to a potential audience of over 2,000 guests.
  • The individual photo attracting the highest amount of likes on both platforms will win the competition.
  • The winner of our prize £100 pounds worth Amazon vouchers (or equivalent) will be announced on 7th May.
