The author
Orhan Pamuk won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006. His novel My Name Is Red won the 2003 IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. His most recent novel, A Strangeness in My Mind, was an international bestseller and was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize. His work has been translated into more than sixty languages. He lives in Istanbul.
The translator
Erin Okap is a translator from Turkish. She was born in Izmir, Turkey; grew up in Milian; and is now living in the United Kingdom. She started translating about 6 years ago, when she heard that Orhan Pamuk was looking for a translator for a catalogue. This project turned into her first translation, of his book “The Innocence of Objects”. Pamuk’s “A Strangeness in my Mind” in her translation was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize in 2016.
