Turkey’s bioenergy potential

Share this page:

The agriculture sector  has great potential to provide sustainable bioenergy from crop and livestock residue.

Turkey, with its diverse farming industry, is the perfect place to do this.

Hazelnut and rice husks can be used to make fuel but at the moment they are wasted.

Turkey wants 20 percent of its overall energy consumption to come from renewable resources by 2023.

According to FAO and the EBRD, if Turkey used these husks to make energy, the country could achieve the target.
