Life in Transition III

A decade of measuring transition

This report draws on findings from the largest poll of its kind to assess life satisfaction, the role of corruption and the gender divide. The EBRD together with the World Bank polled 51,000 households in 34 mainly “transition countries” in central and eastern Europe (see below), as well as Turkey and for comparison their more prosperous western neighbours, Germany and Italy. For the first time, the survey also covered Cyprus and Greece, and the publication reveals the harsh impact of the economic crisis in Greece.
